Recens® Bucket Elevator
Bucket elevator that lifts grain, fertilizer and other bulk material vertically on a belt or chain. Capacities up to 1,500 t/h and lift heights up to 80 m from a footprint of only a few square metres, with fully sealed casing and automatic take-up.
Applications
The Recens® Bucket Elevator lifts bulk material vertically in buckets carried on a high-strength belt or a roller chain. Material is fed into the boot at the bottom, picked up by the buckets, raised to the head at the top and thrown out through the discharge chute into the next stage of the process. Because the elevator works with height instead of length, it lifts hundreds of tonnes per hour from a footprint of only a few square metres — which is why bucket elevators are standard equipment in grain depots, port terminals, flour mills and fertilizer plants. Recens builds both belt type and chain type elevators, and the belt grade, buckets, head pulley and discharge geometry are selected around the material, the tonnage and the lift height of each project.
Key Features
• Vertical lift in the smallest possible footprint — a 60 m lift needs a few square metres of floor instead of a long inclined belt
• Belt type with centrifugal discharge for free-flowing grain, oilseeds and fertilizer; chain type for hot, abrasive or lumpy material
• High-strength polyester and nylon bucket belt, or steel cord belt, with low elongation, and anti-static, corrosion-resistant buckets
• Cage or wing tail pulley reduces crushing and breakage of grain at the boot, protecting the value of the product
• Gravity take-up, or screw-and-spring automatic take-up, holds constant belt tension after a single adjustment, so the belt neither slips nor drifts
• Fully sealed casing in bolted sections with inspection doors, venting and dust explosion relief, keeping dust inside the elevator and the plant clean
• Gear motor with backstop and optional auxiliary slow-speed drive, so a loaded elevator cannot run backwards and can be inched round for inspection
• Monitoring and safety package — belt speed, belt misalignment, blockage and bearing temperature sensors wired back to the plant control room
Applications
Grain depots, silos and port grain terminals — wheat, maize, paddy rice, soybean and oilseeds lifted vertically into storage
Flour, semolina and animal feed mills
Rice mills and oilseed processing plants
Fertilizer plants and bulk blending stations
Chemical plants handling granular or powdery products
Cement, clinker and limestone plants
Power station fuel, coal and ash handling
Food, starch and sugar processing, where a gentle lift is important

Why Recens
Recens has supplied vertical and horizontal conveying systems to grain terminals, port operators, fertilizer producers and chemical works for over twenty years. A bucket elevator is sized to the material, the tonnage and the lift height rather than picked from a catalogue, and the discharge geometry is matched to the product so that grain arrives at the top whole. Recens is also an OEM source of bucket elevator parts, so buckets, belt and head section liners are available years after commissioning.

Overview
Features
Lifts bulk material vertically with buckets carried on a high-strength belt or roller chain, using height instead of length to save floor space
A relatively small footprint compared with any other conveying system of the same capacity, which matters where land and buildings are expensive
Designed for capacities up to 1,500 tonnes per hour, and lift heights up to 80 metres in a single machine
Belt type with centrifugal discharge for free-flowing grain and fertilizer; chain type for hot, abrasive or lumpy material
Cage or wing tail pulley and a matched discharge chute reduce material drop and impact, preserving the integrity of delicate or friable products
Fully sealed casing in bolted sections, with inspection doors, venting and dust explosion relief, keeps dust inside the elevator
Gravity or screw-and-spring take-up holds constant belt tension automatically, avoiding belt slip and misalignment
Bucket width, belt speed, bucket style and head section can all be customised to the material and the throughput required
Monitoring options include belt speed, belt misalignment, blockage and bearing temperature, wired back to the control room
Customer benefits
Ideal for grain depots and grain terminal ports, where a high tonnage has to be raised in a compact building envelope
Works in conjunction with conveyors, feeders and silos to create a streamlined, continuous process line
Very much less spillage and dust than an inclined belt conveyor, so the plant is cleaner and safer to work in
Buckets, belt and head section liners are individually replaceable from stock, so a worn part is exchanged rather than the whole machine
Built for decades of reliable service, delivering dependable quality that saves you time and money
Recens is your OEM source for conveyor parts and service, with field service technicians available from installation and scale-up to 24/7 ongoing support
