Recens® Chain Conveyor

En-masse chain conveyor that drags bulk material through a sealed steel trough with a scraper chain, so the whole cross-section moves as one stream. Trough widths 160 to 800 mm, capacities to 400 t/h, inclined up to 30 degrees, with multi-point feeding and discharge from one machine.

Applications

The Recens® Chain Conveyor is an en-masse conveyor: the material sits in a closed steel trough and a scraper chain runs buried inside it, so the whole cross-section of product moves forward as one continuous stream instead of being carried on top of a belt. Because the chain pushes against the material rather than lifting it, a single narrow trough moves the tonnage that would need a far wider belt conveyor — and it does so with the product completely enclosed. The same machine covers a straight horizontal run, an inclined lift up to 30°, or a combined horizontal-and-inclined route with bends, and it can be fed and discharged at several points along its length. That makes the chain conveyor the practical choice where plant space is tight, where dust has to stay inside the machine, or where one conveyor has to serve a row of silos or bins.

Key Features

• En-masse conveying principle — the scraper chain is buried in the material and the full trough section moves as one solid stream, so capacity per millimetre of width is far higher than on a conventional belt conveyor

• Fully enclosed, bolted trough and casing — dust, spillage and odour stay inside the machine, which suits indoor installations, food-grade plants and explosive-risk powders

• Horizontal, inclined or combined routing with bends: one chain conveyor replaces a belt conveyor plus a transfer tower, with standard inclination up to 30°

• Multi-point feeding and multi-point discharge along the trough, so a single machine can fill or empty a whole row of silos, bins or loading points

• High-strength roller chain or die-forged chain with hardened pins and bushings, and replaceable scrapers, for long wear life in abrasive grain, fertilizer, cement and coal

• Automatic screw, or screw-and-spring, take-up at the tail maintains constant chain tension and prevents the chain riding over the sprocket after the first adjustment

• Gear motor, or motor with fluid coupling and gearbox, fitted with a backstop so the chain cannot run backwards and the trough cannot plug on an emergency stop

• Compact installed cross-section — the enclosed trough runs close to the floor and tight against walls, fitting routes where a belt or screw conveyor has no room

Applications

Grain terminals and depot intake lines — wheat, maize, paddy rice, soybean and soymeal moving through a fully enclosed trough

Flour, semolina and animal feed mills

Fertilizer plants, blenders and bulk fertilizer terminals

Chemical works handling granular, powdery or hygroscopic products

Cement, clinker, gypsum and quarry aggregate plants

Coal, ash and power-station fuel

Metallurgy and mining plants handling dusty, abrasive or hot bulk materials

Materials with a bulk density of 0.2 to 2.5 t/m³, including products with poor flowability

Why Recens

Recens has engineered bulk material handling equipment for grain terminals, ports, fertilizer works and chemical plants for over twenty years. An en-masse conveyor is laid out to the actual route and the actual material rather than picked from a catalogue, with the chain, the trough and the scrapers specified around the abrasiveness and the density of the product. Recens is also an OEM source of conveyor parts and chain, so a replacement trough section or a set of scrapers stays available for the life of the plant.

Overview

Features

  • Material is dragged by a scraper chain buried inside a closed trough, so the entire cross-section of the trough moves and the machine carries far more tonnage than a belt conveyor of the same width

  • Standard trough widths from 160 mm to 800 mm cover capacities from about 15 t/h up to 400 t/h in a single machine

  • Chain speed is set by variable frequency drive in the range 0.16 to 0.40 m/s, so throughput can be trimmed to match the process without changing sprockets

  • Covers horizontal runs, inclined lifts up to 30 degrees and combined horizontal-inclined routes with bends in one continuous machine

  • Multi-point feeding and multi-point discharging let a single conveyor serve a row of silos, bins or loading points

  • Fully sealed casing keeps dust, spillage and odour inside the machine, which makes it suitable for indoor installation and for dusty or toxic powders

  • High-strength roller chain or die-forged chain with hardened pins and bushings, and replaceable scrapers, for abrasive materials such as grain, fertilizer, cement and coal

  • Automatic screw or screw-and-spring take-up maintains constant chain tension and prevents the chain riding over the sprocket

  • Design bulk density range 0.2 to 2.5 t/m3, and material temperatures up to 120 degrees Celsius as standard

Customer benefits

  • One machine covers a route that would otherwise need a belt conveyor, a transfer tower and a second conveyor — lower capital cost and fewer transfer points to maintain

  • Material is enclosed from end to end, so the plant stays clean and local dust emission limits are easier to meet

  • Compact cross-section fits under floors and along walls where other conveyors have no space

  • Wear is confined to the chain, the scrapers and the trough liners, all of which are replaceable on site, so running costs stay predictable year after year

  • Built for decades of reliable service, delivering dependable quality that saves you time and money

  • Recens field service technicians to provide site supervision service from installation and scale-up to 24/7 ongoing support
